About Jean Pacheco Ravinski

Jean Pacheco Ravinski Hello! And thank you to all the THOUSANDS of visitors to my Fine Art America online art gallery!

Growing up in Needham, Massachusetts I was influenced by the paintings and illustrations of N. C. Wyeth who lived in Needham and donated the paintings he used for books and magazines to the Needham Public Library. They have a great collection of his artwork there now. This is where I would go to immerse myself in his artwork and the artwork of all the book illustrators. Ludwig Bemelmans became another of my favorites and so I became a watercolorist and muralist at an early age.

I spent my high school years taking Saturday classes at Mass College of Art in Boston and spent quite a bit of time in the art department at Needham High School where my art teacher, Bob Enos, helped me get my artist's portfolio ready for the juried acceptance into the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It was there that I majored in sculpture and ceramics.

Around 1987 I started to become interested in painting using pixels. I experimented with Fractal Design's Painter program working with the author of that painting program which emulates traditional art materials then developing fine art quality prints along with Graham Nash and other artists pioneering ink jet art and coming up with a new category in art shows for electronic art now known as 'giclee'.

I'm having a lot of fun with my art at this time, Facebook has opened up a whole new world for us out there.

I'm putting together another show of recent small prints on canvas called 'Little Bits of Art'.

I try to paint every day, I'm working at developing the illustrations for a book with author Jerrine Egloff titled 'Beauty By The Stars'.

I live in Plymouth, Mass. On Plymouth Bay, with Paul and Cricket, surrounded by beautiful flower gardens, birds and wildlife. Including WHALES!

Writing here as of August 17, 2013.

Insights...I've shown and shown and shown. I guess it's what I learned to do from the first time I began painting in elementary school. You know; paint something, hang it on the wall. And over all the years I have ACCUMULATED! 50/60 years of art. On paper, frames, paints, brushes, art supplies...STUFF! My dream has always been to 'atomize' all this stuff. And I think I found the solution with digital art: PIXELS! Now when I paint in pixels, the art only exists as electrons stored away in a file until it's printed out. Perfect.

So my goal now is to have all my artwork digitized and store it here on Fine Art America, Pixels.com, and Facebook art pages and in the cloud. This is a cyberspace art gallery and museum for my artwork. ENJOY!

If you would like a print out, here ya go.......

Great news! The Plymouth Juried Art Show gave 'Butterfly World' First Prize in Digital Art! I'm thrilled, I had faith in working in pixels and it took a couple of years to get everything working in the right direction in order to show in the traditional brick and mortar way! Gives painting in pixels a true validity.

I have an ongoing Facebook art show called 'PAINTED THOUGHTS'....The Visionary Art of Jean Pacheco Ravinski...

The idea behind 'Painted Thoughts' is that someone, anyone who doesn't know what's up, is asked for 5 random words. The 5 words are then visualized and illustrated by Jean. It's an ongoing art project, the art process in action!

The first 5 random words are from Kevin Cole, Pulitzer prize winning photographer. First of his 5 words is: FAITH, the second, LOVE.

I hope you have fun following what emerges......
